Millgate Arts Centre announces full programme of events

Millgate Arts Centre in Delph has recently announced a full programme of events starting in September. The venue is used by Saddleworth Players, Saddleworth Film Society and Saddleworth Chamber Concert Society as well as various touring companies, dancing schools, musical and other community groups.

The centre also houses the community run public library service in Delph, offering a full lending service as well as public information and internet access services.

Drama productions by Saddleworth Players start on September 22nd 2012 with a classic Neil Simon comedy ‘Barefoot In The Park’ followed on November 17th 2012 by ‘Strictly Murder’ by Brian Clements. The youth group takes to the stage from 13th – 15th December with ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes or ‘Five Beans For Jack’.

The first production in the New Year is ‘The Price’ by Arthur Miller playing from January 26th until February 2nd 2013. Colin’s Smith’s ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now’ plays from April 6th to 13th 2013, and the drama season concludes with ‘Half In Earnest’ from 1st – 8th June 2013 – a musical adaptation of the Oscar Wilde classic by Vivian Ellis.

The film season kicks off on September 10th 2012 with ‘The Descendants’ followed at regular intervals throughout the year by ‘Jane Eyre’, ‘The Artist’, ‘The Well Diggers Daughter’, ‘Midnight In Paris’, ‘Once Upon A Time In Anatolia’, ‘Monsieur Lazhar’, ‘The Angel’s Share’, ‘Headhunters’, and finally ‘Las Acasias’.

Saddleworth Chamber Concert Society starts with Eloise-Fleur Thorn (violin) and Martin Austin (piano) on October 10th 2012, the piano and wind quintet Ensemble 360 follow on November 28th 2012. The first concert of 2013 is The Badke Quartet (string) on February 6th and the season concludes on 17th April 2013 with The Benyounes Quartet (string).
