Oldham students aim for top marks in A-level results

Oldham students have received good news today as they opened their A-Level results.

Initial reports from our schools indicate that the provisional* overall pass rate from A*-E was more than 98 per cent.

Today’s results are the culmination of two years of hard work and perseverance for the students, as well as support from parents and teachers.

The students – many of whom may now be going onto university or seeking employment – will be well placed after achieving their qualifications.

Oldham Council will support these newcomers to the local job market through the Get Oldham Working campaign.

This aims to create 2,015 work-related opportunities by 2015, stimulating the local economy and making our Borough better equipped to face future challenges and opportunities.

Councillor Amanda Chadderton, Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “I would like to congratulate all those receiving their results today – it is incredibly rewarding when you can see all your hard work has paid off.

“These qualifications will enable students to make the most of the opportunities presented to them in the future. With Oldham Council’s continuing efforts to Get Oldham Working and regenerate our Borough, I know such opportunities will increase and provide even greater prospects for young people – even if they didn’t get quite what you were hoping for.

“Whether these young people are now looking for work or off to university, I wish them all the best of luck in the future.”
