The attack is believed to have happened in the grounds of a derelict care home off Micklehurst Road, Mossley at some time before 10pm on Wednesday 21 October 2015.

Detective Inspector Dave Loughlin from GMP’s Tameside division said: “News of this attack has understandably shocked the local community and our officers have been speaking to the community over the past couple of days to try and identify the man responsible.

“We are offering all the support we can to the victim who suffered this traumatic ordeal

“We are appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have any information about the attacker or have seen anything suspicious. You may think your information is trivial, but it could be vital to our investigation, so please call us and tell us what you know.”

This is an isolated incident and offences of this type are very rare police want to reassure the public that they are doing everything they can to identify and arrest the offender.
