Police Renew Warning Over Saddleworth Burglaries
Saddleworth residents are once again being warned to make sure they keep their properties and vehicles secure.
That follows another burglary in which car keys were stolen from inside a house, and a car was then taken from the drive.
The latest incident took place in Grotton on Sunday night. According to officers, the thief or thieves got in through an “insecure” door before making off with a Volkswagen Golf.
There’s been a recent series of burglaries and car thefts in our area. Some involved properties in remote areas of Saddleworth, while others saw Audi vehicles targeted. You can read about those in Saddleworth News articles here and here.
The Saddleworth and Lees police team has today asked me to publish the following statement:
THERE HAS BEEN AN increase in burglaries in the Saddleworth area. They have occurred during the early afternoon and late evening. For some of these, entry has been gained via insecure doors.
Items that have been stolen vary from small valuable items, electrical goods and motor vehicles. The vehicles have been stolen with the keys. An insecurity is easy access for a criminal to steal from your home.
Your local neighbourhood policing team are urging residents to always lock your doors and windows, even when at home. Never leave valuable items in the sight or reach of criminals. Residents are asked to be vigilant and to report anything suspicious to the police.
