Saddleworth Male Voice Choir

On Saturday 26 April the Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will present their annual St George’s Day Concert at 7.30pm in the Civic Hall, Uppermill.

The choir will sing a variety of pieces from their male voice repertoire. The finale gives the audience the opportunity to join in a flag waving sing-along to such favourites as There’ll always be an England, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.

The choir’s special guest this year will be the former Saddleworth based Dave Donohoe Jazz Band. Trombonist Dave Donohoe leads one of the best New Orleans style bands in the country. Hand-picked by Woody Allen for the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Dave has toured the USA and Europe in various guises, appears in Europe’s Jazz Festivals and can often be seen with New Orleans’ finest. The band has played on the same bill as legends such as Dr John, Joe Cocker and Van Morrison.

Tickets for the concert are available at £10.00 (No Concessions) from Saddleworth Museum, Uppermill Post Office or David Davies Tel: 01457 873182.

SMVC continually seeks to increase its membership and anyone with a reasonable singing voice is invited to attend our weekly rehearsals every Wednesday between 7.30pm – 9.30pm at the Old School on the corner of Station Road and Lee Street in Uppermill, or contact Brian Greenwood (Recruitment Officer) on 01706 840574.
