Colin Henshaw, a former British Army soldier, from Uppermill, was on London’s Trafalgar Square yesterday to highlight Bell’s mission to raise £1m for Help for Heroes.

A battalion of statues, including Colin’s was revealed to applaud our national heroes, wounded whilst serving for their country. Unveiled ahead of National Heroes Day on Sunday, the 20-strong battalion is made up of sculptures of injured Armed Forces veterans to raise funds for charity, Help for Heroes.

Colin joined the Army eager to make something of himself and went on to serve tours in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Kosovo. In the Porterdown riots, Colin sustained head injuries and was later diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Colin found the re-adjustment to civilian life tough and was diagnosed with an Adjustment Disorder. He was determined to continue being self-reliant and with support and treatment, Colin is now an avid fundraiser for Help for Heroes. He takes part in various challenges for the charity and recently completed the Hadrian’s Wall and Spire to Spire Walks.

Colin is looking forward to walking the Great Wall of China for the charity next year.
