Saddleworth’s Remembrance Concert

Saddleworth's Male Voice Choir

The annual concert of remembrance presented by the Saddleworth Male Voice Choir will be held at the Civic Hall in Uppermill on Saturday 12 November, at 7:30pm.

The event will provide an opportunity for the local community to come together with the rest of the nation in remembering the fallen of the two world wars and those who lost their lives in more recent and current conflicts.

The concert will start with the choir singing a selection from their repertoire of favourites, which will be followed by a singalong of popular wartime songs.

The concert will then lead onto the Act of Remembrance with the standard bearer of the Royal British Legion. The poem ‘For the Fallen’ will be read by Canon John Sykes.

Alan Widdop’s Uppermill band will be the choir’s special guests. They will be playing a selection of brass band music, and they will take part in the Act of Remembrance, with the playing of Nightfall in Camp.

Saddleworth Parish Council’s Chairman, Councillor Bill Cullen, Mrs Cullen and Saddleworth’s warrant officer Roger Unsworth, will be attending the event.

Advance tickets costing £10 are on sale from Uppermill Post Office and the Saddleworth Museum, as well as from Cliff Etherden on 01457 872464.
