Sponsored walk in memory of Rowan Poole in May

Rowan Poole.

A sponsored walk will take place on Sunday 26th May 2013 to raise money for the SMA Trust in memory of a little girl who died of an incurable genetic disease.

The walk is starting at The Pie Hall, Denby Dale and finishing 17 miles later at Dovestones Reservoir.

The walk will be in memory of Rowan Poole, the beautiful daughter of Sarah and Matthew Poole of Denby Dale who peacefully lost her brave fight with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1b at just 18 months old on 23rdNovember 2012.

SMA is the U.K’s biggest genetic killer of children under 2 years old, and currently there is no cure, however The SMA Trust is working with scientists to find one.

There is a small glimmer of hope, with several therapies entering or approaching clinical trials in humans.

The 17 mile sponsored walk from Denby Dale to Dovestones reservoir will take place on what would have been Rowan’s 2nd birthday – 26th May 2013.

The walkers will all be wearing their favourite ‘Onesie’, carrying buckets and passing by businesses during the day en route to Dovestones.

If anyone can help with the fundraising or would like to take part in the walk, please contact Julie Elliott on: j_m_elliott20@hotmail.com
