Sporty Tots Sessions For Saddleworth Under 5s

The Saddleworth News cub reporter was in the thick of the fun.

The first of this summer’s Sporty Tots sessions for children aged up to 5 took place at the Holy Trinity School in Dobcross on Wednesday morning.

More than 20 youngsters joined in the fun, as staff from Oldham Council’s Integrated Youth Service got them to take part in a variety of activities.

Three more sessions are scheduled over the next three Wednesdays. The first two will be at Saddleworth School in Uppermill, with the last at Springhead Infants on Cooper Street.

The Saddleworth School sessions begin at 10:30am and last for an hour, while the Springhead one will start at 10am. All sessions are free, although you have to book in advance. To do so, give Nitin Solanki a ring on 0161 770 3683.

The Sporty Tots classes are just one example of several different activities on offer during the holidays for children of all ages.

There are multi-sport plus arts and crafts sessions at Saddleworth School, for children aged between eight and 16, which cost just £3 per day.

There’s also a double decker bus travelling around our area offering a range of free activities aimed at 11 to 19-year-olds. It’s near the school in Delph on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, on Wednesday nights it visits the Co-op in Lees, while on Fridays it visits different locations.

You can see video interviews with members of staff from the Integrated Youth Service here.

More information about activities both in Saddleworth and across the rest of the borough is available from the Go Oldham! website here. There’s also a Twitter account here.
