The Outdoor Collaborative

Who is the Outdoor Collaborative? 

The Outdoor Collaborative, is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that advances education in Greater Manchester in the art of photography and film making, focused on the outdoors, particularly amongst young people. The charity will be doing this by providing free guided walks of the British countryside, guided by competent qualified instructors whilst also delivering training to capture media and improve digital media skills. The collaboration is with other charities, partnering up with them to deliver our services of getting young people out doors and undertaking pursuits. At present we are working with Madhlo in Oldham.

The team consists of Drew Fivey, Adam Ward, Jack Penrice and Emma Kenyon.

How did it come about? 

This came about as all the trustees live in the local area and have witnessed how deprived some areas are. We also know how beneficial being outside in the countryside is for mental health.  Also, we recognised that being creative with digital media is also a great way to develop skills.

What do you intend to achieve? 

We intend to achieve; improved mental health, better employment prospects and more opportunities to be creative for the young adults.

Where will this happen? 

Our first training session is on the 4th May 2019 meeting at Madhlo and travelling to Dovestone Reservoir where we will be teaching them about taking video and taking photographs.

We are having a launch of our new website at Donkeystone Brewery in Greenfield on the 5th May.
