Warning Over Delph Bogus Caller

Police are warning Saddleworth residents to be on their guard, after a bogus caller targeted a Delph resident over the phone. The caller said she was from Oldham Council and was inquiring about allegedly unpaid council tax, but hung up when challenged by the householder.

Pc Mark Clough from the Saddleworth North neighbourhood policing team said the incident happened on Monday. The resident dialled 1471 and was able to get the caller’s number, which was later traced to a landline in Cornwall.

Pc Clough has urged local people to pass this information on, in case they receive similar calls.
