A new series of Saddleworth Chamber Concerts has been announced.

It’s the 37th season of concerts put on by the Chamber Concerts Society, which was founded back in 1975.

The first of four concerts at the Millgate Arts Centre in Delph will take place on Wednesday 5 October. The Barbirolli String Quartet, the quartet in residence at Salford University, will be performing works by Haydn, Bliss and Beethoven.

Romanian pianist Alexandra Dariescu (pictured) will be playing on Wednesday 7 December. Next year, the piano quintet Ensemble 360 will be in concert on Wednesday 8 February, and the Erringden Ensemble will close the season on Wednesday 18 April.

Tickets for each concert are priced at £12, and a season ticket for all four is available for £36. Music students and schoolchildren can get in for £4.

To get a ticket in advance, send your request along with an SAE and a cheque made payable to Saddleworth Chamber Concerts Society, to Paul Amatt, Treasurer SCCS, 7 Burnedge Road Fold, Grasscroft, Saddleworth, OL4 4EE. Tickets will usually be available on the door from 7pm on the night of each concert.

There’s a wealth of more information available on the SCCS website here.
