Delph Youth Band Play Canal Fun Day

The Delph Youth Band performed as part of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal family fun day on Easter Sunday. Despite some unsettled weather, a good crowd of people visited the event at the Brownhill Centre on Wool Road near Dobcross.

Among the activities were face painting, colouring and various arts and crafts, as well as a rubber duck race down the River Tame. Food was provided by several local suppliers, and the WI’s cake stall was completely cleaned out of all its various goodies.

Funding for the event came from Oldham Council and rural regeneration quango Pennine Prospects. The Society has plenty more events planned for the canal over the coming year, and there’s more information at their website here.
