Diggle Blues Festival Starts Tonight

The first-ever Diggle Blues Festival begins this evening. A series of free blues gigs take place at venues around the village between now and Sunday.

Local man David Wood decided to organise the festival after enjoying his past visits to the well-established Marsden Jazz Festival. If the Diggle Blues Festival is a success it’s hoped it’ll be held every June.

Three venues are holding concerts. They are the Diggle Hotel, the Hanging Gate and the Diggle Band Club. There is one show at each venue both tonight, tomorrow and on Sunday, and they take place at different times so avid blues fans can attend every gig if they want.

The first gig tonight starts at 6:30pm at the Diggle Hotel, and features Hoochie Coochie Mancunian. Blues Deluxe play at the Band Club at 8pm, with the Time Splinter Blues Band at the Hanging Gate from 9:30pm.

Tomorrow, the Tony Auton Band play the Hotel at 3pm, with Marauders at the Band Club from 5:30pm and Adrian Ingram’s Jazz Dawgs at the Hanging Gate at 8:30pm.

Buzz Brothers begin the last day of the festival on Sunday with a performance at the Band Club at 2:30pm. The Backwater Blues Band are at the Diggle Hotel at 5pm, with Kim Karma playing the Hanging Gate from 7:30pm.
