Dobcross pub flooded due to blocked drains

The Swan pub in Dobcross became flooded the other day during the torrential rain.

Sandy Lane leading down to The Square was like a river, washing debris over the monument.

The drains simply couldn’t cope and flooded The Swan by entering through the back door. Highways response teams arrived very quickly to help at the scene.

The Problem was ultimately caused by bullets on Long Lane in the village not being kept clear by the council, according to The Swan landlord Michael Powis.

Sandy Lane became a small river.

There was however a fantastic community response from the locals who came to help with buckets and mops! the pub is now back to normal.

When is Oldham Council going to accept that the people of Saddleworth pay rates as well, therefore surely we are entitled to better footpaths, better roads, in fact in the ten years I have lived here I have seen no improvements at all where I live. In fact I broke my ankle several years ago through a pothole in a country lane and the fact it was a country lane and as they said hardly used it didnt warrant maintaining as much, but lo and behold it was repaired a couple of days after my complaint. Also the grids and gulleys are a disgrace. Where I live is actually on a well used main road and this is a disgrace so no excuse there tnen.
