Saddleworth Illuminations Results

The winners of the Saddleworth Christmas Illuminations competition have been announced. The judging was carried out last week by a committee led by the current Chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council, Cllr Keith Begley.

Greenfield butcher Ian South won the prize for Best Shop. Face and Body on Oldham Road in Grotton was named Best Shop Window, with Delph Post Office the runner-up. New to You in Uppermill was awarded Best Decorated Shop Window, ahead of Christoria in Delph.

The honours for Best Large Residential Property went to Mr and Mrs Powell of Annisfield Avenue in Greenfield, while the runners-up were Mr and Mrs Kershaw of Thornley Park Road in Grotton.

The first prize for smaller properties went to Mr Newbold and Mr Powis of Woods Lane in Dobcross, and you can see a picture of their entry on the right. Mr and Mrs Percival of Claytons Close in Springhead took second place.

The special Community Prize was also awarded to Claytons Close in Springhead.
