Saddleworth Schools Affected By Teaching Strike

With teachers across much of England and Wales scheduled to hold a day of strike action on Thursday in a row over pensions, Oldham Council has put together a list of how the borough’s schools will be affected.

Most, such as Saddleworth School, will close to pupils but remain open to non-striking staff. Some, including the primaries in Diggle, Delph and Lydgate, will open for some classes only. A handful are due to close completely, with a few others expected to remain open as usual.

The official advice for parents is to contact your local school for details. But to see the council’s list of the latest general information about each school, click here.

Good I’m glad some schools will close. Pensions is a hot topic at mo, and government would seem to be advocating every employer provide a pension, I assume a good pension. That begs the question that given policy, why would it want to destroy what is a “good example”. Pensions were a way of rewarding for long and loyal service, but I see “executives” wanderin off with huge pensions after a couple of years of golf on Tuesday.
