Sketching our way through the lockdown
The Uppermill Sketching Group are a group of like-minded local residents who enjoy sketching, painting and socialising. We usually meet once a month for a morning of sketching in the village, or indoors if it’s raining, and enjoy a coffee and lunch together.
Over lockdown we have gathered together on What’s App and have chosen a different subject matter everyday. During April all members of the group created and shared one image each including themes of ‘something from your kitchen cupboard’, ‘imagination’, ‘weather’, black and white’ and ‘wool’. Since then we have continued to share when we are able to, so there is a steady stream of work coming through.
Melanie Miller said ; “I have really enjoyed sketching everyday, drawing subjects I would not have picked, and seeing everyone’s pictures and how we have all improved over the last 4 months. “
During August we are taking the alphabet one day at a time. Today’s theme is something beginning with the letter E. Below is a range of images that we have produced. Thankyou for looking.
“I’ve loved being part of this group, it has put me out of my comfort zone many times and i have tackled thing’s i wouldn’t have usually done. I find the people in this group very encouraging and supportive so a massive thanks to the rest of the lovely ladies.” Jo Hardy
“I find this has been great and given me something to look forward to every day…..I’m really easily bored!” said Anne Buckley
“I have loved being part of this group too. It was very motivating during the height of lockdown, and we all knew each other were alright when we saw a picture posted. ” Kathryn Phillips
