This year’s Yanks Are Back In Saddleworth event takes place this weekend, and as part of the celebrations, there will once again be a special 1940s-style café at the Sacred Heart church on Uppermill High Street.

Two Uppermill churches, the Sacred Heart and St Chad, are jointly organising the café, which will be running between11am and 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

There’ll be sandwiches, jacket potatoes, cakes, tea and coffee, all served by volunteers in period costume, reminiscent of the old NAAFI cafés!

Proceeds will go to the Sacred Heart and St Chad Whit Friday fund.

As for the Yanks weekend more generally, events are planned for Friday night, as well as throughout Saturday and Sunday, at locations throughout Saddleworth.
